Silk Gold Edition $24.99 Edition

Silk is where the CHCKX color library shows off. Twenty-eight colorways, from two-tone silks like Silk Blue Gold to tri-color gradients like Silk Red Gold Blue that move through three hues along a single strand. The sheen is in the material, not a coating: prints come off the bed already looking finished.

The number that matters is ±0.02 mm, the tightest winding tolerance in our catalog. Even sheen needs even extrusion, and even extrusion starts with an even strand. If you want the one spool that makes every visitor ask what filament that is, the satin Silk Gold Edition is the one we hand over.

USE-CASE GUIDANCE

Where it earns its keep.

Pick a gradient, not just a color

Tri-color silks shift as the spool winds, so a tall vase cycles through all three hues while a small trinket catches one or two. Browse the library with the finished size of your print in mind: bigger prints tell more of the gradient's story.

Print for the sheen

Silk rewards patience. Slow your outer walls, keep extrusion steady, and hide the seam on the model's back. The ±0.02 mm winding does its half; a calm outer wall does the rest.

The Gold Edition

One colorway in the set gets its own name for a reason. Silk Gold Edition is a satin gold with a metallic read that photographs like anodized metal. It is the spool we recommend for awards, ornaments, and pieces meant to be handed to someone.

Print tips

  • Slow outer walls to around 60% of your normal speed for the deepest sheen.
  • Stay inside 200 to 220 °C; overheating silk dulls the finish.
  • Ease off retraction slightly; silk blends string more on long travels.
  • Put the Z-seam on the back of the model. Silk shows seams more than matte PLA.

THE HONEST BIT

FAQ

Buyer questions, straight answers.

Do the tri-color silks really change color?

Yes: three pigments wind through the strand, so hue shifts as the print climbs. Two prints pulled from different points on the spool will not match exactly. That is the nature of gradient filament, and we would rather say so before you buy.

Is silk PLA weaker than regular PLA?

Slightly, on layer adhesion: the additives that create the sheen cost some bond strength. For display pieces it does not matter. For functional parts, pick PETG.

What is the Silk Gold Edition?

A satin, metallic-read gold sold as its own edition. Current pricing lives on the Amazon listing; the price line above is the anchor.

Same settings as standard PLA?

Same temperatures: 200 to 220 °C nozzle, 70 to 80 °C bed. The only change worth making is slower outer walls.
