PCTG is the line we did not have to praise ourselves. Independent community testing put CHCKX PCTG on the bench, measured it, and called it genuinely good at $19.99 a kilo. We will take that over any banner we could write. Ten colors, from Black and Silver to Olive Green, all wound to ±0.03 mm.

As a chemistry, PCTG is the step past PETG: the same water resistance and easy bed, with more impact toughness and better clarity as a class. It prints hot, and it rewards a machine that can hold 250 to 270 °C. If your brackets snap and your PETG looks cloudy, this is the upgrade path.

USE-CASE GUIDANCE

Where it earns its keep.

When PETG stops being enough

The usual story: a PETG bracket that cracked at the screw hole, a clamp that whitened at the bend. PCTG carries higher impact strength as a class, so the same geometry survives more abuse. Reprint the failed part in PCTG before you redesign it.

See PETG

Clarity you can actually use

PCTG stays clearer than PETG through thick walls, which is why light guides, jigs you need to see through, and liquid-adjacent housings land here. Print slow, keep the part cooling low, and thick sections stay readable.

The value math

At $19.99 a kilo on Amazon, PCTG sits closer to commodity PETG pricing than to engineering-resin pricing, and bundles run from $16.99 to $159.99. That gap is the whole argument: community testers did the math and said so. We just kept the price where they found it.

Print tips

  • Run the nozzle around 250 to 270 °C; PCTG likes real heat.
  • Bed at 70 to 80 °C with a clean PEI sheet; no enclosure needed.
  • Keep part cooling low, around 20 to 40%, for the strongest layer bonds.
  • Dry an opened spool before printing clear parts; moisture reads as haze.

THE HONEST BIT

Good at this. Not at that.

Every material has a job. Here is where this one belongs, and where it does not.

FAQ

Buyer questions, straight answers.

What did the community testing actually say?

Independent testers in the 3D-printing forums ran CHCKX PCTG through their own benches and rated it a genuine value at $19.99 a kilo. We link the storefront, not the quotes: check the current listing and search the forums yourself. It holds up.

PCTG vs PETG: what am I paying for?

More impact toughness and better clarity, as a material class. Same easy bed, same water resistance. The trade is nozzle heat: PCTG wants roughly 250 to 270 °C, so your hotend has to keep up.

Do I need an enclosure?

No. PCTG prints on an open machine with a 70 to 80 °C bed. The heat lives at the nozzle, not around the part.

Where are the exact mechanical numbers?

The table on this page marks industry-representative rows clearly, and batch TDS data is available on request through the wholesale form. We would rather hand you the datasheet than print a number we did not verify.
